We had a great time at the Louvre. Our tour guide Fabia was friendly and very knowledgeable! She took us to the key things we wanted to see Mona Lisa, Venus De Milo, etc. and got some great photos of us. She used earbuds and a microphone so we could clearly hear what she had to share even if the other visitors were talking near us. We didn't have a lot of time to spend at the Louvre....this 1.5 hour gudued tour was just what we needed.
We were a little disappointed in the tour. It did not last but one hour, at the end she demanded we pay for ear pieces, but could not keep them, meaning they were reused, and this expense was not mentioned beforehand. It also seemed odd that she went to purchase the tickets and then wanted cash payment at the end. She did get us from place to place in the museum with ease, and had a decent knowledge.
Our tour guide Julien was amazing, worth every euro! The Louvre was mobbed the day we went and he used all of his tour guide magic to get us in past long lines even for tour groups. He knew everything about the Louvre that we asked about and gave us an incredible overview tour. It was supposed to be 1.5 hours but he went almost an hour more. You could tell he loved his job. We have 11 year old twin boys and he worked very hard to keep them interested. He even offered to take family pics of us in the museum. Thanks for everything, Julien!
Susanne was waiting for us at our meeting spot and was delightful and charming! We were SO grateful to be in her guiding hands, as otherwise, the Louvre is totally overwhelming. I loved how she gave insight and history to the actual building and how the Louvre became what it is today. She did an excellent job taking us around and showing us highlights. We had our two kids, 14 and 12, and that is the only reason why I chose the shorter option. I wasn't ready for it to be over, and could have done the 3 hour one, but other than seeing one more thing my son had learned about in school, the kids were ready to leave after we said goodbye to Susanne. The only thing I would change was that she spent a lot of time on greek statues, and though my husband and I really enjoyed spending a lot of time on studying one statue at a time, it was tough for the kids and they were anxious to move on to something new.
This tour is a MUST. We were only in Paris a few days and didn't want to take up a full day at the Louvre so we opted to do the abbreviated private tour. The Louvre is huge and I can imagine one could get lost for hours in there and not even see some of the major exhibits. Our guide was Julien and he was awesome. We had a delay because the museum opened late due to an impending strike in France so he walked us over to a local cafe for hot chocolate while he went back to the museum and checked the status of the opening. He came back after about 20 minutes and said everything was good to go. He whisked us around the museum to see the highlights and his knowledge of the fine details of paintings and the history was awesome. We were explained things we would have never known if we didn't have him there. While the tour was pretty expensive for just the two of us, it is much cheaper if you book with a tour of at least 6. The price goes down per individual if you have more. We had friends that took the same tour in September of last year and they loved their guide. She pushed her way through the crowds and helped them get prime spots for viewings and such.
Best thing we did in France! Julien Dartois was the best guide we had for the entire trip to London and France. I can not speak highly enough about him. He was knowledgeable, interesting and just great to be around. I wish we had engaged him on our first day in France, I definitely would have booked him for another day. I would highly recommend Julien Dartois, other guides should use him as an example.
This was our second visit to the museum over our week-long visit to Paris. The first visit was unguided and the second visit guided. Our guide was Christina. The meeting place was easy to find. Our guide was very knowledgeable and polite. Our expectations were exceeded. Taking the guided tour was worth the money. Time was used wisely. I highly recommend this company for your tour. Christina did a terrific job for us.
