Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was the best we attended during our trip. We visited another one and this one was the best. Up close and personal with the animals. Much better than I thought it would be.

This was an excellent excursion. The views from Mt. Wellington were beautiful. Richmond was a nice stop where we had lunch. The wildlife sanctuary was the highlight of the day! The kangaroos were amazing and approachable. We were able to pet them and feed them. We also enjoyed the other animals like the koala bears as well as the Tasmanian devils. Our only regret was that we would have liked more time there.

The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was the best way to get up close and personal with the wildlife. Richmond was a cute little town. We got off the bus in Hobart before going up to Mt Wellington, but we heard from traveling companions that it was a great view.

guide was basically just a driver. Mt Wellington is very windy and cold and a long way to get to. Only go if you are really into views. Bonorong sanctuary was def. worth it. Richmond is a small village with little to offer, we would have been better off with more time in Hobart and it would have been nice to learn about the culture.

We really enjoyed this itinerary. It was a good introduction to the Hobart area. Richmond was especially charming.
We were disappointed in our guide, George. He seemed like a nice person, but we would classify him more as a driver than a guide. For most of the trip, he was chatting with a fellow passenger and not giving us details of the region. When he did speak, it pertained more to personal comments such as where he was married, as opposed to facts about Tasmania. For example, This is the oldest church in Australia. We ask, How old is it?. His answer, I don't know. When we returned to the ship, we heard from others about all the details they had learned about the area from their guides. We felt short-changed.
George also was far too flexible in his return to the bus times. He would state a certain time and then be far too lenient in letting people wander off and shop after that time, leaving the rest of us waiting by the bus when we could have stayed longer in the wildlife sanctuary, for example.

Tour was good but the guide was poor. She wasn't familiar with the tour, was not out of the vehicle at most stops. She was driving with one hand on a curvy mountain road and didn't have a hands free microphone, one hand on the wheel and the other on the mike. The contracted company did an extremely poor job in training this lady who was otherwise polite and proper.

Despite a stuff up by the cruise line where we arrived at Hobart a day later than scheduled, the tour company were ready to meet us and took us on a very good guided tour. Mt Wellington was cold and windy as we were expecting bu the rest of the tour was most enjoyable interesting.
