The tour to these sites was excellent! Booking online was easy. The local guide and driver arrived at my hotel on time to pick me up and take me out to the sites. The guide had great English and was very knowledgeable about the local area, the sites, the county and any other questions I could throw at her. She organized the logistics and local tours very well so there was no downtime waiting for certain tours etc to begin. I could not fault anything in regards to this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in seeing some cool places outside of Bogota. It's a big day, but certainly worth cramming in both sites in the one day to maximize the travel time.

The trip was a wonderful way to spend our last day in Bogota. Our guide, Paola, was friendly and very informative. The lake was beautiful and customs and history of the indigenous people interesting. The salt cathedral was much more impressive than expected. Highly recommended.

I did the booking at the last minute, i.e. just before I got into to fly to Bogota! They were reliable, great guide, great experience. worth the money. Also this is a unique place in the world, especially coming from someone who has travelled a lot!

Excellent tour. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable which helps - you're going to be in a car for several hours over the course of the day!, and the sites are superb. I only had 3 days in Bogotá, and I'm glad I spent one of them doing this!

Great experience
The driver was very polite, we speak Spanish, so no worries with Spanish tour.
Too much trafic on the way back.
We got stock in a traffic jam for 2 hours...
other than that, tour was worth every penny.

Tour is definitely worth it as the views especially at the laguna are amazing!!. I would however recommend not doing the 2 tours on the same day as timing becomes too tight but also as the road from Zipaquira to Guatavita is extremely bumpy better roads if you leave from Bogota. Other than that, tour staff was great, very professional, patient and super friendly!

I enjoyed my Bogota tour in the countryside. I didnt know that I had signed up for a private tour when I paid 220. I couldnt find any group tours or hop on/hop off tours in the city so this tour was my only option. Apparently, the tourism industry isnt developed in Bogota since tourists didnt visit when the war with the FARC was going on.
The tour guide arrived at my hotel for pick up just before 9am. She was a polite young woman who recently graduated from college. Her English was good and I had no problem conversing with her throughout the day. The driver was a pleasant middle-aged man who didnt speak much English. They drove me around in a Chinese SUV, which was clean and comfortable.
I was most interested in seeing the Salt Cathedral. I had to wait about 45 minutes for the next English speaking tour which meant that I was late meeting the guide afterwards. You cant just walk right in, like you can if you speak Spanish. The delay set the entire days activities back. I loved the tour of the cathedral and spent time after it ended exploring the place. The guide hadnt planned on me doing that either. The visit to the Salt Cathedral was the highlight of my trip to South America.
After leaving the Salt Cathedral we visited a nearby town and walked into the local church and plaza in front. Then we had a nice lunch at a popular local restaurant. The lunch was included, but I did have to pay for a beer that I had with my meal.
Due to the delay at the cathedral, we raced up into the mountains to the hike around the caldera. However, it began to rain and they closed the hike due the paths getting muddy. We had arrived just after 4 and, had the route been open, wouldnt have made it back before dark. There wasnt enough time during the day to do the hike since its takes a while to hike in and out. Im not sure why no one thought of this before.
I told the guide that it was fine and we should continue on to the last stop. We headed back to Bogata on a different route than we came up through the back side up into the mountains surrounding the city. This drive took a couple hours and we even got stopped at a police checkpoint which took about 20 minutes for the policeman to let use through.
The last stop is a viewpoint overlooking Bogota. By the time we got there it was dark and there were many cars on the narrow 2 lane road. It was also foggy and raining so you couldnt see anything. I suspect it would be nice on a clear day. I told them that we didnt need to stop and to take me to my hotel.
In summary, the tour was enjoyable, but we spent most of the day in the car. I did enjoy seeing the verdant countryside. The Salt Cathedral was the highlight and the lunch was good. The price was expensive I paid just 70 for a day long tour in Quito to a volcano but I didnt see that I had other options. If I could do this again Id get transportation to the Salt Cathedral only. Skip the guide and the rest of the tour.
