This was a fantastic tour and an excellent introduction to Baku. There was only one other man on the tour, so it was a very personal experience, geared also to our interests. We started off in the Old City learning about the history of Azerbaijan as we visited the palace of the Shirvanshah's, Maiden Tower and passed through the quaint, narrow streets. We were shown the modern Flame Towers, a memorial park where famous writers/artist etc are buried, Martyr's Alley, Nisami street with the old opera house and other important buildings. We went into the Carpet Museum, a miniature book museum and so many other places.

There was a lot of walking but Jamil was very considerate and when he could see that we were tired, we took taxis instead - I had arrived in the early hours of the morning and only had about 4 hours of sleep, plus the temperatures were in the mid 30s so I appreciated the taxis towards the end of the tour! It was a jam-packed day but I learnt so much from Jamil about history, culture and traditions. We went to two excellent restaurants for lunch and then dinner and Jamil ordered a selection of dishes at both meals so we could have a good experience of Azerbaijani cuisine, which was DELICIOUS:

Jamil is truly an excellent guide - knowledgeable about his country and sensitive to the needs of his guests. I was so satisfied with the tour that the following tour, I decided with the other guest on my tour to book Jamil again and we went to the mud volcanoes, fire temple, fire mountain and petroglyphs. After that he found me another excellent guide, Ibrahim who showed me Lahic and some sights in Shamakhi. Then I did another day's tour to Krasnaya Sloboda/Quirmizi Quezebe Jewish town and Khinalug, the highest village in the Caucasus mountains. All in all, I had an amazing 4 days in Azerbaijan and it was largely due to discovering two such brilliant guides!

I did the Baku Full Day City Tour with Jamil. We met at the metro station in the morning and then we were off. We visited Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the old city and fountain square, a miniature book museum, Maiden Tower, walked by the Flame Towers, the Carpet Museum and more. We ate at two fantastic restaurants- the food was delicious. I highly recommend this tour and Jamil.

One of the best Full Day tour of my life!
Mr. Jamil did a wonderful job! My mother and I truly enjoyed the day.
Not only he's knowledgeable foe his young age, attentive, smart and has a nice sense of humor but also very patient and helpful. My mother has a knee problem and hence going down or up the stairs was a challenge but Mr. Jamil waited patiently and even offered to help.
He showed us Baku like a tourist should see!
From Old Town Maiden Tower, Mosques, Palaces... to the Modern Part Fountain Square, Nizami Street, Flame Towers, The Cemetery, Upland Park....etc not to mention the breath-taking panoramic view of Baku with Caspian Sea's breeze!
The food at Nargiz and Dolma restaurant recommended by Jamil is simply the BEST. Overall, it's a great experience and Baku is such a wonderful city to visit.
My friends are already sold and convinced to visit Baku, book on Viator for the Full Day trip and hopefully get Jamil as their tour guide. They will thank me later :

Excellent tour to see the main areas of Baku in one very full day. Guide Jamil was very knowledgable, good English, and made sure I saw sights of special significance. We went through Old Town, Fountain Square with local cuisine in quaint restaurant, through newer ares and along the Caspian Sea with boat ride, then to the hill with the Martyrs Alley and Garden and eternal flame monument. Also rode funicular. Had afternoon tea with local pastry by sea. Offered evening meal too, but declined. Tour lasted from 10am until 7pm. We walked a lot, probably at least four miles, but took uber to not walk up the big hill. Very worthwhile tour and I learned a lot about local history and culture. This was really the Baku in a Nutshell Tour.

You cannot go to Baku and not book this tour!!!! we did the trip on the first day, and due to that, we appreciated the rest of our time in Baku so much more. Our tour guide spoke excellent English, made sure we were comfortable the entire time and knew an incredible amount of historical detail. Bring comfortable shoes. Be prepared to walk a lot. this is not to be missed!
